How to make sweet chicken wings

Sweet chicken wings are a delicious and popular appetizer or snack. You can make them by following this simple recipe. This recipe yields approximately 20 wings, but you can adjust the quantities to suit your needs.

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Wings:

  • 20 chicken wings (about 2-3 pounds)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying

For the Sweet Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger, minced (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional, for heat)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken Wings:
    • Rinse the chicken wings and pat them dry with paper towels.
    • Season the wings with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Fry the Chicken Wings:
    • Heat a large, deep skillet or pot with about 2 inches of cooking oil to 350°F (175°C). You can also use a deep fryer if you have one.
    • Carefully place the chicken wings in the hot oil, in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
    • Remove the wings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  3. Prepare the Sweet Glaze:
    • In a saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, ginger (if using), and red pepper flakes (if you want some heat).
    • Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently. Allow it to simmer for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove it from heat.
  4. Coat the Chicken Wings:
    • Place the fried chicken wings in a large mixing bowl.
    • Pour the sweet glaze over the wings and toss them to coat evenly.
  5. Serve the Sweet Chicken Wings:
    • Transfer the glazed wings to a serving platter.
    • If desired, garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation.

These sweet chicken wings are best served hot, and they make for a delightful appetizer or party snack. Enjoy your homemade sweet chicken wings!
